Triple Chocolate Muffins

Triple chocolate muffins – the best excuse to have chocolate for breakfast! (Actually, who ever needs an excuse?!)

(Makes 12 muffins)


  • 300 g all purpose flour
  • 80 g cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 250 g white sugar
  • 170g vegetable oil
  • 250 ml milk
  • 2 room temperature eggs
  • 50g milk chocolate chips
  • 50g dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  1. Heat oven to 200C/ Gas mark 6
  2. Whisk all your dry ingredients together
  3. In another bowl, whisk the oil, vanilla extract, eggs and milk together
  4. Add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients in three parts, each time folding in your batter until smooth. Be careful not to overmix
  5. Fold in your chocolate chips
  6. Fill your muffin cases slightly over 1/2 full
  7. Sprinkle a handful of chocolate chips onto the top of the batter
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean
